We made it up to the loop in Oct. and the fishing was off the hook. I could not believe the schools of fish we saw. The opener is going to be a lot of fun. We were fishing with lures and power bait. We didn't bring the fly poles this time. I hope everyone has a nice holiday.
We head up to the Loop and Yosemite about 3 times a year. We fish the streams. We only fish the lakes up in Yosemite. We have really good luck out of the stream catching naturals. All species. We set up the pole as follows. Longest lightest pole possible Bass Pro shops has a good one it is yellow glass rod 6 foot 7 inches its like 20 bucks. Use two pound test line on your reel. Set a 12-14 treble hook gold. with a split shot sinker (smallest one they make) 18 inches above the hook. We had really good luck with salmon eggs of all kinds. Just bounce the sinker down the middle of the stream and the fish will come hit it. Enjoy. We had a record last time we had 6 guys go and everyone limited everyday before noon. 5 days in a row.
Planning our next fishing trip. When is the best time to go? I have been in August and October now. Looking at other options. Any suggestions?

Awesome! We are trying to plan for the opener but might not get all the fishin' buddies' schedules together. It's not fun without the buddies! We'll see. Hope to meet more anglers each year we go.
